etc.venues are delighted to have won the 'Best Demonstration of CSR Award' at this year's HBAA conference.
The winning entry focused on our work with a lovely charity called Magic Breakfast who provide underprivileged school children with a healthy breakfast to help them to work and concentrate more effectively.
We are passionate about this charity as it reflects our policy of providing healthy food to delegates to aid their learning so it has not been hard to persuade our chefs to run a number of workshops and activities in schools to help the children learn more about the food they eat.
In fact we have done quite a lot of this type of volunteer work - so much so that London Mayor, Boris Johnson asked MD Alastair Stewart to join him to launch his Volunteering initiative earlier this year.
One of the Award judges - Mark Lewis - Editor of Caterer & Hotelkeeper said:-
"Etc.venues offers a shining example of how businesses can reap personal rewards from investing time and energy into corporate social responsibility. Through its support of the Magic Breakfast, etc. venues has provided its employees with an added means of drawing personal satisfaction from their working lives. Moreover, its charitable activities have helped engender a greater sense of teamwork and unity. It comes as no surprise, then, that the extent of their fundraising far exceeded their expectations.”
Di Jones who put together the winning entry was delighted to win the HBAA award and said:-
"etc.venues have pioneered good CSR practices since we were formed nearly 20 years ago and it is great to see that the desire to operate responsibly as well as commercially still burns bright'. It is great to win another CSR award to back up other recent awards for recycling, emissions and green initiates".
