St Patricks Day is almost upon us once again so to help line the stomach before you hit the town for the St Patrick’s day parade, here is my soda farl recipe. They are so easy to make, so give them a pop!
500g Soda Bread flour (500g plain flour, 2tsp bicarbonate of soda)
Place a really heavy based, non stick frying pan over a medium heat.
Simply add the salt to the flour and pour on your buttermilk. Mix with a fork until just combined like with scones. Do not over mix. Tip onto a floured bench, shape into a round disc and roll out until about 1.5″ thick. By this stage it should look slightly rough. Just cut into quarters and place all four pieces into the pan to cook for 4-5 minutes o each side.
Remove from the pan and allow to cool. Now cut in half-length ways. You can either drop these in the pan after cooking your bacon for your fry up or have the healthier option and just toast them.
