This Inn is a gem of a place which can be accessed via the A896 a 55km main route through the mountain terrain of NW Scotland between Strathcarron and Kinlochewe, via Shieldaig. Much of the route is single track with passing places. A pretty spectacular drive in the right weather, unfortunately the day we visited Applecross we found ourselves in the clouds not being able to see the road ahead let alone the views. Discovering the Applecross Inn made it all worth while though particularly when my Langoustine arrived.
These are local and you actually don’t see them on many menu’s as they are shipped off for a fortune to London but in Scotland this dish was a bargain price of £17. I can’t even imagine how much you could be charged at a top restaurant in London. Under them is hidden a salad and a slice of homemade bread. Simple and delicious.
