Crop Report 2 May14

English Asparagus is now in full flow and now is the time to eat it, price has eased. Jerseys are also readily available and fantastic!

Nutbournes English Heritage Tomatoes are really amazing this year and becoming very popular!

Wild Garlic is still available but will soon come to an end.

Purple Sprouting Broccoli has now finished, it’s the very last crop! We would advise to take this off the menu.

English Strawberries are available, if you are after English please ask as we are working Belgium which we feel are better quality. English Raspberries are also making an appearance!

Kale is also coming to an end! Quality is starting to decrease.

Chalk Valley English Watercress now in stock!

There is outdoor English Rhubarb. Green Cabbage, Spring Greens. Also excellent English Cauliflowers.

Good Candied and Golden Beetroot out there! English Parsnips, Swede, Turnips and Potatoes including Pink Fir! English Carrots will soon be finishing!

English apples have finished!

There are English Conference Pears but we are mainly working Belgium.



The Dutch Season is upon us, your Peppers, Cucumbers and Aubergines will all be from Holland. English Cucumbers will follow soon!

Spain is still producing Broccoli, Courgettes, Iceberg, Little Gem, Cos and Baby Salads.

On the Market we have seen Red Spring Onions, Rainbow Chard, Yellow Courgettes, Samphire from Israel, Breakfast Radish, fantastic Cour De Boef (Beef Hearts), Baby Bunch Artichokes and Yukon Gold Potatoes. (please be aware that these items are priced on the night so our sales staff may not have prices, we can always get you a quote!)

Excellent Sweet Potato and Butternut Squash from Honduras! Also great Asparagus from the USA. Mexican Spring Onions.

All Beans are coming from Kenya, Fine Beans, Sugar Snap and Mange Tout.

We are starting to ripen Peaches and Nectarines and hopefully be ready for next week! We are seeing the first of the Spanish Cherries!

Blood Oranges have now finished! Lemons are from Spain and we are at the end of the Primafura variety which is why they are slightly blemished, soon to start new season Verna! Oranges from Egypt!

Chilean Black Grape and Indian White!

Spanish Galia Melons but still on Costa Rican Watermelons, Honey-dew and Cantaloupes. We are finding the price high and quality difficult as the quantities are short, until we start the Spanish season, this will remain. The situation is the same

We are working French/Spanish Grannies, Brazilian Reds and Gala’s have now started!

Belgium Strawberries are 500g punnets and looking fantastic. Raspberries from Portugal, Spanish Blueberries, Chilean Blackberries and Dutch Redcurrants.

Mango’s and Paw Paw are from Brazil, very good Indian Pomegranates. Brazilian Figs.
