A fantastic traditional boozer with just enough style to keep it the right side of cool, the Trinity is home to friendly staff and just as friendly locals. Alongside it's reasonably priced beers and wine, the eclectic menu is excellent, particularly the infamous Trinity Burger. Bar nibbles are also a cut above, with the sweet potato wedges scoring highly.

Anchor and Hope
36 The Cut SE1 8LP
Information: 020 7928 9898, anchorandhope@btconnect.com
Tucked away at the Southwark Station end of The Cut, the Anchor and Hope is reportedly the best gastropub in London. The menu is not for the fainthearted with traditional British and French food on offer, ranging from cassoulet to duck fat potato cake. Vegetarians may struggle to find something suitable, however, and the 'no reservations' policy can be a bit annoying especially as the place is rammed most nights. Persevere however, as the food will be some of the most amazing you’ve ever had.
